What is Multi-Head Modularity?

Melco machines can be networked together either via Ethernet, or wirelessly with Melco Summit Manager, to create a modular multi-head setup. You can run either the same job and design or a different job and design at once — maximizing efficiency and your profit.

How a Melco modular system out-performs a conventional multi-head

Multiple Melco machines stitching independently in a production area

Save Time and Money

Unlike a traditional multi-head setup, when one of your EMT16X machines has to be stopped for a bobbin change, hoop change or thread break, the other heads can keep stitching.

This flexibility makes your setup up to 100% more efficient than a traditional multi-head machine, and translates into massive, real-world time and cost savings. Two Melco machines can often equal or exceed the output of a conventional 4-head machine.

Multi-Tasking Mastery

With a traditional multi-head machine, once you’ve started a job, your entire setup is tied up until it’s complete.

With modular, independent machines, you have the freedom to take on a smaller job that doesn’t need all the heads. You can now dedicate one head to a rush job without interrupting a project already in progress, keeping you and your customers happy.

Personalization and Profit

Open up new revenue streams by offering name customization on large orders. Since each head is independently controlled, you can have each machine stitch a different name on each item — perfect for jerseys, uniforms and more.

The software even handles name changes automatically with a design queue: when an item is finished, just change the hoop and go.

Melco Modularity Adapts to Your Work Zone

Melco embroidery machines are designed around a modular concept that gives embroidery businesses greater flexibility than traditional multi-head machines. Instead of committing to one large machine footprint, individual Melco machines can be arranged throughout your production area to make better use of available space.

This modular setup allows operators to run different jobs simultaneously, dedicate machines to specific products, and continue production even if one machine requires maintenance. As your business grows, additional machines can be added to the network without reorganizing your entire shop, creating a scalable production environment that maximizes both floor space and efficiency.

Pro tip

No space? No problem. Unlike multi-head machines, Melco’s modular design allows you to build your business in locations with limited space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to buy multiple machines at once?

No. You can add additional Melco embroidery machines to your collection as your business grows, linking them to the same computer as your first Melco embroidery machine.

Do I need additional equipment for Melco Modularity?

You only need a standard Ethernet switch and common CAT-5 Ethernet cable to connect your computer to the network switch, and the network switch to your embroidery machines. The switch and cables are simple home equipment that can be found at many electronics and big box stores.

How many Melco embroidery machines can I connect?

You can connect up to 30 machines with a single computer running Melco OS.

Does each machine have to run the same design?
